Monthly Archives: February 2010
2.26.10
The big dipper pours
a gruel of thin clouds and stars
over the houses.
2.24.10
Like TV static
between channels, the snow falls
strange, mesmerizing.
2.19.10
A loggerhead shrike
surfs the wind on a bare twig
as winter blows away.
2.17.10
A line of killdeer
wades in the ditch; wind ruffles
feathers and water.
2.14.10
Three crows glide
over the still pond
at sunset.
2.13.10
I see some stars
whose names I know;
the rest remain mysterious,
each a story’s start.
2.12.10
Soft hissing sleet falls
invisible to the eye—
weather to be heard.
2.11.10
A bewick’s wren,
scolding from a branch,
demands worms.
2.04.10
These slow storms
ease sun memories
toward myth.
2.04.10
Raindrops plomp—
erratic patterns,
broken beats.
